The Kansas City Zoo is offering modified private overnight stays for family groups up to 12 people. Visitors will have the option to stay in either the Helzberg Penguin Plaza or Polar Bear Passage. The evening will include a night hike through the Zoo and a movie.
The overnight stays are available on Friday and Saturday nights through January. Guests are welcome to bring their own snacks and other family activities. The cost is $500. If you are interested, the zoo asks that you call 816.595.1765 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to book.
It’s been 5 years now since our beloved male polar bear Nikita left the KC Zoo. The Kansas City Zoo has announced that it will be receiving a new male polar bear later this month. Nuniq (pronounced new-nick) should be available for public viewing sometime in November.
Nuniq currently weighs in at 1,045 pounds and is just 4 years old. He will be coming to us from the Henry Vilas Zoo in Madison, Wisconsin. You can learn more about visiting hours and COVID-19 protocols on the Kansas City Zoo website here.
