In a hope to improve police-community relations, the city of Kansas City, MO has removed possession or control of marijuana as a violation from the city ordinances. The ordinance passed the City Council in a 9-4 vote on Thursday.
The city decriminalized small amounts of marijuana in 2017. Until today, the fine for possessing 35 grams or less of marijuana was $25.
The voters in Missouri approved the use of medical marijuana in 2018. Last we checked the medical dispensaries are set to open this summer.
