As it does every year at this time, the Perseid meteor shower will be lighting up the Kansas City sky tonight. At its peak, sky gazers should be able to see up to 100 meteors an hour. The Perseids are known for their beauty. Most of the meteors leave a shimmering trail and are multi-colored.
The only issue may be the nearly-full moon which will be shining bright and may make it hard to see the dimmer meteors. Many of us have young ones starting school tomorrow. Get the bedtime routine done early and enjoy the show with the kids. It really can be quite mesmerizing and they will love it. Happy star gazing.
