Last Minute Summer Fun in KC

It’s about time for the kiddos to head back to school. With the last days of summer upon us, we have listed some of our favorite local, fun and inexpensive activities for the kids to do over the next week.

1:The Hill Slides at Concourse Park in KCMO. The kids will love this place and have a blast flying down the hill. Be sure to bring some old blankets to have them ride down on. The slides are concrete and will damage pants or shorts. Once you’re done on the slides, head across the street to the water feature to cool down. Pack some towels for the ride home. My kids always have a great time at The Concourse. You can find more info by following this link

2:The Kansas City Northern Miniature Railroad in KCMO. Your kids will love this miniature railroad in North Kansas City. Open on Sat and Sun, May through September, this local non-profit was formed in 1984 and has three restored miniature trains that operate on a 1/2 mile track. The fare is .75 per ride. The park is also home to a large giraffe and elephant. You can find more information on Penguin Park following this link

4: Antioch Park in Merriam, KS. Antioch Park is the oldest and most popular park in Johnson County Park and Rec District. Kids have been loving this park since 1958. The park boasts 2 fishing lakes, some great walking paths, nice playgrounds and the kids all love the Historic Dodge Town. Recently remodled, this old west town has a bank, pony express, city hall, schoolhouse, train station and much more. You can find more info on Antioch park here
